Mike Jordan

Financial strategy and systems expert, and interim Finance Director.

Mike JordanMike has over 30 years business, strategic financial and accounting and operational experience of which at least 20 years have been at executive/board level of a number of listed and non-listed South African and multinational companies, gaining extensive manufacturing exposure to various industries, most notably in the appliance industry. In additional he has extensive experience in the retail and IT sectors. He has also been responsible for risk management and corporate governance initiatives as a result.

Mike qualified initially as a Chartered Secretary in 1979 and then followed this up by qualifying as a Chartered Management Accountant in 1983. He obtained his MBA from Wits Business School in 1992, finishing on the Dean’s List of the Top 10 students during the three year part-time MBA program. In 1997 he also attended the executive development program (GMP) at Michigan Business School in the US during this time working for a US based multinational.

Mike’s last senior corporate position was an 8 year stint as financial director of one of South Africa’s largest wholesale/retail company between 1999 and 2007.

Mike has a broad range of experience from business and financial strategy formulations to initiating and developing best in class, highly automated finance and accounting systems. He has also consulted on budgeting and forecasting processes, capital raising, business acquisitions and disposals and management accounting and costing initiatives.

Mike has been involved in one of the largest SAP Retail implementations in South Africa, during his time in the retail sector, and personally led the insurance claims formulation and recovery of monies for two of the largest fire insurance claims ever undertaken in South Africa following two devastating store fires in 2001 and 2003.
